On Episode 11 of the World Wrestling Resource Podcast, we talk
international wrestling with Dennis Hall and Jon McGovern.
The first part of our discussion centers around the large
tournament hosted in Iran, with over 2,100 entries over 100 weight
classes and over 8,000 spectators. While Iran is trying to get this
recognized as the largest Olympic-style wrestling tournament by
Guinness, we here in the U.S. know that Fargo reigns supreme with
over 4,000 wrestlers competing annually.
The discussion also centers around women being able to watch
wrestling in Iran for the first time. This was spearheaded by
American Kiki Kelley's appearance last year at the Greco-Roman
World Cup as the U.S. Team Leader.
We'll also get some insight from Hall about preparing high school
wrestlers who are looking to reach the state tournament for the
first time and McGovern explains going down the stretch at the
college level.
